Back in 2020, my dad and I saw too many contractors in Central Iowa cutting corners — using cheap materials, dodging callbacks, leaving job sites a mess. We knew we could do better.
So we started Black Ridge Contracting out of Ankeny with nothing but a work ethic and a commitment to do things right. Dad brought 20+ years of hands-on construction experience. I brought the energy and the drive to build something that would last.
We spent those first years side-by-side — on roofs, pouring concrete, hanging siding in the Iowa heat. Every homeowner got the same treatment: show up when you say you will, do the work right the first time, and leave the place cleaner than you found it.

Black Ridge Is Born
Dad and I launch Black Ridge Contracting in Ankeny, IA. First project: a roof replacement for a neighbor on SE Delaware Avenue. Word-of-mouth starts spreading fast.
Expanding Services
We add siding, gutters, and concrete to our lineup. Hire our first crew member. Complete our 50th project — a full exterior renovation in Johnston.
